Flora Heals an Aching Soul
Rose <3
Mythra wants to sleep, but she just can't. She's always had trouble sleeping -- when she does doze off she ends up wandering into places she's not supposed to be. Into beds that aren't her own...
If she could avoid sleeping ever again, she would. Especially at Aletta Manor, the rare times they're there. For a place Addam calls home, she's so rarely here that it feels alien. Each time she comes something has been arranged a bit differently, portraits on the wall moved to the left of the right...
Just his wife feeling a bit restless with the pregnancy, Addam tells her. Pay it no heed...
But it's hard not to pay Lady Flora at least some heed. This is like, her entire world or whatever -- at least that's the way some of those hoity toity nobles talked about their wives. To them, their manors were their lives and their worlds. Keeping them running well was as important as...
Well, as important as it was for Mythra and Addam to stop Malos. She thinks maybe Lady Flora doesn't see it like that as much as she wants to, given the way she's caught her and Addam laughing at such things...
Really, both would rather just be farmers in Leftheria, away from all this. They would be by now, if Addam hadn't awoken Mythra in Uraya like he had. Forced himself into a role he didn't want and put Lady Flora back into the role of housetending a while longer...
Ugh, if it wasn't for Malos. If it wasn't for her...
"Mythra, are you alright?" Lady Flora's voice cuts through her own thoughts as sharp as Siren's beam. "Why are you up so late?"
"Couldn't, uh, sleep," she glances over at her. Even in the middle of the night, her brown hair a mess and her freckled face without a hint of makeup, she's beautiful. "Didn't mean to wake you."
"You didn't," she assures, sitting next to her. "Addam's got a horrible snoring problem."
Mythra snorts, rolls her eyes a bit... But it does feel nice to be told she's not at fault for something. Even if it's as small as waking up Lady Flora -- something so much smaller than the damage she causes fighting her other half.
She's grimacing again. She knows because Lady Flora has a habit of pinching her cheek when she does it around her. Pinches it until Mythra lets out a yelp and tells her to knock it off.
"Sorry," Lady Flora grins. "But you know..."
"I look better when I'm smiling, yeah, yeah..." Mythra rubs her cheek. "You don't have to treat me like that, y'know?"
"I'm sorry," she furrows her brow. "Am I upsetting you? Is there something I could do better?"
"I mean you don't have to treat me like." Mythra helplessly gestures outward and grunts. "Like a kid! Like your kid. I'd rather not be practice for whatever little terror you're having."
"Oh," Lady Flora blinks a few times and then sighs. "Mythra..."
"Sorry," she mumbles, refusing to look at her. "I just, I dunno. Your kid is gonna be much better than I am so--"
Her cheek is being pinched again and Lady Flora is actually scowling at her. Lady Flora, who always seems to have a smile on her face! Scowling at her!
"You're not practice for anything," Lady Flora huffs. "As far as I'm concerned I'll treat you the same even when our little bundle of joy is here! To me, well, you're basically another part of the family to me, Mythra!"
"I..." Mythra feels like she's about to cry and it's not because of her cheek. "Okay."
"Okay?" Lady Flora smiles gently at her again, understanding more with just that word than anyone else would.
Mythra just nods.
