Just Desserts

Late cause life has a way of doing its thing.

Yet again, it seems 100 words is out of my ability. What's better than 100 words? Twice that.

"Gorg!"

"Yeah?" says Gorg distractedly; pops his head out of the kitchen window.

"What is this?" Floren taps his hand against the clipboard.

"That's..." Gorg retreats a moment then sticks his whole upper body out. "Sorry. Fire."

Floren nods. Taps fingers impatiently.

"Uhh... this month's supplies?"

"No. This is unsustainable."

Gorg is visibly confused. Floren grumbles frustratedly.

"Do you know how expensive amethyst vanilla is? And rare! Not to mention it isn't in season! Where--"

"'t's never in season," mutters Gorg.

"--are all these things disappearing--"

"Boreas."

Floren pauses. Opens his mouth.

"He's our courier."

Floren's mouth shuts. His shoulders slump. Hesitantly, Gorg pats Floren's shoulder.

"...Right." Floren sighs. Sighs again, deeper this time, thunking his head against the clipboard. "Right. I'll..." his hand waves vaguely in the air.

"Yeahhhh..."

Gorg isn't quite sure he understands what Floren's hand movements mean, but he does know from experience that accommodating Boreas' appetites is easier than telling him to rein them in. However, he also knows that letting Floren try is easier than trying to save him the frustration it will bring him.

"Well, all the best with that."

Gorg returns to the kitchen, ignoring Floren's grumbling. He has treats to bake.

Pretty sure Gorg and Boreas have a joint quest in the XC2 DLC.

I think Floren would be a good supply manager in terms of minding exactly how supplies are being used and how that's affecting ecosystems. Unfortunately, Floren's abilities are the immovable object to the unstoppable force that is Boreas' hunger. Even more unfortunately, this is an interaction in which Boreas comes out on top.

Again, drabbling for XC2 is fun.
