Hikari | Mythra & Homura | Pyra

Hikari | Mythra, Homura | Pyra, Yaegiri | Zenobia (mentioned), Teni | Herald (mentioned), Kasane | Kasandra (mentioned), Azami (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) (mentioned), Marubeeni | Amalthus (mentioned)

Drabble, Unreliable Narration, Self-Indulgent, cause they know what they're talking about and we don't, mentions of the Aegis War, and the war that likely happened after, Idk the Mythra from chapter 8 and beyond just intrigues me

"Hmm... I imagine I would remember fighting against someone like Zenobia... So... That would mean she probably wasn't there at the time? Or if she was, maybe I just left her to someone else...?"

This one's totally self-indulgent.

I know that one of the reasons Mythra doesn't like talking about the war is because it's still a raw topic for her (she created a whole different person just to deal with it and fell asleep; safe to say she wasn't working through her feelings)

I just wonder why in Stronger Than Light (it's a h2h) Mythra chooses to sidestep Zenobia and Zenobia's Driver's question(s).

I wrote + edited this in less than an hour so all mistakes are mine. Please point out any you spot.

As always, enjoy.

Mythra doesn't turn when Pyra comes to stand beside her. They look over Elysium... well, Elysium as they remember it. Mythra doesn't remember ever seeing Elysium, but she's not in the mood to talk to Pneuma about before... before. She casts that train of thought to the back of her mind.

"Did you really have to lie?" Pyra asks. Her tone is gentle, nothing accusatory about it. She sits down and waits for Mythra's answer.

"Didn't meet her," Mythra says easily. She too sits down and considers lying in the grass. She ultimately decides against it. The weather is nice here. It always is.

"We did," says Pyra, shrugging.

"You did," Mythra corrects.

Silence. Mythra looks at Pyra and sees her smiling. It's not the brightest of smiles. "But isn't that..." she pauses, likely mulling over her words, "...a technicality?"

Mythra snorts. There's not much she can say since Pyra isn't wrong. That doesn't make her right. "Would you have told her?"

"That I... that we met her?"

Mythra raises an eyebrow. She's stalling and they both know it.

Pyra sighs."...No," she decides. Her face is serious and her eyes stare ahead.

"Why not?" Mythra asks.

Pyra smiles again. This time it's an incredibly grim smile; one that doesn't reach her eyes. "Coeia," Pyra starts. And really, it's enough, but she continues anyway. "You weren't asleep yet, but everything was falling apart with Emperor Hugo gone and his cousin on the throne and Amalthus... Amalthus, he--" Pyra closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. Mythra doesn't think she'd have kept it together if she'd seen what Pyra and Addam saw first hand. "There's a reason Father created the blade cycle, Mythra."

"Yeah," Mythra agrees, "even if that man messed it all up."

"I don't think that Zenobia would want to know about the things she did in her driver's hands back then."

Pyra puts her hand in Mythra's. Mythra squeezes. "Herald, Azami, Kasandra... any of them."

Silence settles over them again. One that simply fills the space left by the things unsaid between the two of them. Shared memories, even ones that aren't theirs.

The bell tolls.

The silence breaks.

Again, self-indulgent. There's a lot of threads I leave hanging in favour of answering my primary question. I could revisit them if you're curious.

A few more thoughts:

Blades have perfect memories; it's been mentioned multiple times (implicitly and explicitly) throughout Torna and XC2. It's the reason the blade cycle is regarded as a sort of Cruel Mercy by most people.

Mythra, being the Aegis, has access to not only her own memories, but the memory of every blade that has ever awakened.
I found her answers odd cause considering her perfect memory, the question is a yes or no question.

There's just... a lot to be said and thought about what could have happened in the 500-ish years between Torna and XC2

Anyway, at this point I'm rambling so like,,, eh.

As always, love

John.
