Who Do You Write For?
There's one muscle that still works without fail.
His muscles atrophy, victims of the war between ether and blood -- all his muscles, save for one. It has never been fueled by ether, and though the introduction of blood prevented him from using it every day, as he preferred, blood has not weakened it at all. This muscle is fueled by smiles, laughter, and tears: friends and strangers, moved by his words, feeling gratitude for having been connected to something deeper, communal. This is the muscle, stronger than his core, that continues to give him life, and he will continue to use it until his body finally gives in.
