"Not 'could have been', Shania? There's some beautifully opportunistic optimism out of you, if ever I've seen it."

That optimism, Shania grudgingly admitted, drove her to discuss her concerns with the head of another House - Cassini, no less - in the first place.

She knew she was...capable of anything, if she actually tried, like her mother wished she would. Even though she'd never act on her wishes (laziness, again?), talking about it like it could actually happen...damn her eyes, that was truly the first step.
