It was ridiculous, really. Just plain unbelievable!

...not that Ashera would say she couldn't understand.

Everyone in Keves knew that Silvercoat Ethel of Colony 4 lived to fight with the best of them - and, then, just perhaps a touch more. She was glorious, unattainable, just as all the greats, of which there weren't really any, because history blew like the wind in Fornis.

So why on earth Ethel would say no to parley with someone like Ashera, who did truly live to fight (and fought to die, but no one needed to know that), was a real mystery.
