"It doesn't exist, I made it up," Newkirk returned flatly. "I can't remember the last time we had a game together, just you 'n' me. Whaddya say?"

"I don't like playing with you. You cheat."

"I don't need to cheat, Louis - you know it."

"I know nothing, Pierre, absolutely nothing."

"And I know you're just itchin' to get your hands on a hand. Eh? C'mon, with your old pal Newkirk?"

"You are not so old, Pierre," LeBeau said softly, sliding along the bench into his seat.
