Why was it so easy to imagine?
Phoenix loved the groundwork part of an attorney's routine - visiting crime scenes, gathering evidence, talking to witnesses - just as much as he loved the actual courtroom defense, because the two went hand in hand. He saw Edgeworth more often around the courthouse, but he couldn't deny that when looking at the overall trajectory of his life, the "busywork" that would intersect with anyone's routine, no matter their career, was the side that had the most staying power, regardless of life's future trials.
And he could just see himself and Edgeworth, hand in hand...
