The problem laid out for him is very simple: he wants to do something, anything, to honor (and even glorify, if he's being honest) Addam's memory. But the man was a farmer, not a hero. He can lie (and eventually, he does, though he'd like to say that it's more gentle, innocent misconstruance), but playwrits aside, well, ain't nobody here but me and my grief.
Who'd even listen to what he wants to tell? The kids, yes, and sometimes childlike expressions are deceptively powerful, but...
