Yeah, there is. There is a moment. On Mann's planet, they'd had their turning point. No pivotal, grandiose speech was gonna undo that.

It was the same arrogance, wasn't it?

Not possible, but necessary.

He knew he was charismatic for doing it. Mann didn't, couldn't; he'd died. Worse than dying, he'd been obliterated. Space, blank and free, is certain death, all the more so if you've got a concussion from the door hitting you on the way out.

Hell of a lot different from anything that can happen to you on Earth. Down there, with mankind.
