James T. Kirk wouldn't describe himself as a principally pacifistic man; rather, he was a man who always took a long, hard look at his problems before giving them a long, hard shake, because in his life it had always been the core causes of things, the axioms that keep people orbiting each other, and endangering those orbits in service of newer and greater, that had captured his focus and fascination.
This Spock, fragile and unsure, was not the Spock to argue with by the shoulders. But how else to find him? How else to set his partner star free?
