sandcastles in the sky
There are certainties, on this earth.
That which is simultaneously fragile and heavy
Fortified and marred by tideful water
The simplicity of a child's play
As complex and intricate as (what has) tortured artists
That which is coveted and sheltered
A stalwart watchman on the wind
That which is presented proudly
Then just as fastidiously buried away
Commonplace and one-of-a-kind
A gravestone marker in delibilia
Individual to every living soul
A great and pitiful granular enormity
Sandcastles of grief, and love, and confession
And we build them, and build them, and build them
It just takes one bold hand to rededicate
Forever erected at the bottom of the sea
