Nyota Uhura/Kagutsuchi | Brighid

Nyota Uhura, Kagutsuchi | Brighid

Prompt Fill, Communication

[Day 18 - Date]

"Down to the minute - you should be in the military."

Uhura smiled politely. "I rather think I shouldn't, Lady Brighid. But, that all depends on your best judgement, which I surely will respect."

As if the military doesn't need seconds and nanoseconds. What country was this woman from? Still, Nyota tried not to be too snide.

It was an easy trap that she resisted, to be immediately all-over charmed by the voice completing the other side of the transmission. Brighid had requested her company, following an exchange of several connections. There were all sorts of people to be met, working in communications, and so it was far from the first time that Uhura's hand had been asked and tried, but it was the confidence that had spoken to her. It was the confidence in Brighid's low, even tones, melismatic in their rising and falling cadences always turned with a lilt that had been intriguing enough to bend Nyota's ear.

Brighid's ears were invisible, hidden beneath two larger-than-life spirals of beautiful violet hair. Nyota imagined to herself where the earpiece would fit, and whether or not Brighid would look lopsided. She soon decided that this was impossible; that just like her, Brighid was determined as she made herself up.

First impressions... Well, Brighid had revealed herself to be a woman of quick wit whose sly flirtations were not yet quick enough to win the even measure of the Enterprise's characteristic human voice.

She spoke with her eyes closed, and she listened that way as well. Nyota spoke with long nails tracing her statements and queries into the air, hands laid over an imaginary instrument panel as she modulated between modes of address.

The expression of esteem from Lady Brighid had been somewhat sardonic, as if implying that Nyota's talents were currently being misused or failing to serve to their fullest effect; a misstep she seemed quietly endeavoring to redress.

"I never have seen someone approach me with such intuition."

Naturally. "And you never will."
