what all true warriors strive for
Matchback for this.
Addam feels as though he spends a great deal - really, an overwhelming share - of his life and time denying that he has any aspirations whatsoever. This is both because he has to, to appease supporters of Zettar and the High Prince's siblings (those very same supporters, indeed), and because it does irk him to know that what people assume of him, en masse, is simply not true.
More than that, is a man not permitted to want for nothing at all? Is he not simply allowed to be content?
For Flora, wonder that she is, makes him very, very content.
