Who else could cultivate Kyrie into a perseverant, straight-shooting force of commitment?

Who else could demonstrate to Zakir the calculating nature of earned trust?

Who else could humble Foots into broadening the scope of his forethought?

Taion has been, for the most part, taught already. Isurd has instilled a keen eye, despite the spectacles, commensurate with the consistently high rank of his colony.

(For a time, they called it Lame Lambda. Some colonies shelter when about to lose their commander to Homecoming. Lambda had no choice.)

There, evidence: Teach would rather his colony pull a serviceable Iron and cohere than strive for Steel and all fall apart.

Not that he blames Taion's strategic lineage for this. Not at all.

It is Taion's exceedingly brilliant share of merit that puts Teach in the mind of launching Gamma's tutor program, courtesy of Ouroboros, to begin with. These strengths of communication, precision, judicious reservation...

Not to say that you cannot display exemplary traits you may possess in the pursuits of off-seeing, combat training, or research data collection.

But you can brute-force feel your way through those things, acting alternately as a technician or as a grunt and answering with ardor from the heart. Leading by example, Teach does not allow himself to do that, anymore.
