It was a warm, sunshiny day in the house of Aletta, and all the worn stone floors were settled with a thin sheen of benign dust, as the afternoon wore itself on. There was, above all, a particular golden repose before the half-bay window of the large bedroom on the upper floor, and it was there that the paw-per prince had left his attendants while he sauntered off to take care of some business that, unfortunately, needed keeping in the kingdom, which wasn't his and which he didn't want.

And because Flora kitty was only a kitty, with each miniature bean pinker than the last, she had only to nuzzle closer into Minoth cat's side to be able to transmit the vague, but fully-formed, shape of her friendly feelings: It's so warm here in the sunny spot. You're not going to leave, are you?

Minoth cat snorted, showing more amusement than annoyance (and those thus more than he would have liked). What's it to you? I'll leave if I need to leave. No hard feelings, alright?

If this offended Flora kitty, she didn't let it show. That's fine by me. As long as you're satisfied. And polite, of course, but he'd already shown himself to properly possess those faculties when and where they mattered, and in quite a genuine way, so she truly wasn't worried about it.

He also hadn't shoved her away, or curled tighter in on himself to get his strange unspiky shard of peculiarly precious personal space back. That was progress, wasn't it?

Addam dog's satisfied flounce of golden fur on top of the both of them in a single lump completely obliterated all notion of progress then and there, but since it meant he didn't have to talk any more, Minoth cat didn't seem to mind.

Flora kitty thought that this was very silly indeed, but moreover very cozy. Carefully, she whispered to Addam dog, A little more grace next time?

I suppose I would if I could. I'm sorry, Flora.

Tell that to him. I'm not sure I care.

Minoth cat, ears and impressions both handy, shifted minutely. He had not beans, only nondescript pads, and their sound against the floor all around their resting spot was overall mute. It was plenty signal enough for Flora kitty to know that she had been heard, however. And how did she feel about being heard? Fairly secure, all round it. She was, as aforementioned, only a kitten (or perhaps only a very small cat, but who was counting). What secrets were there to have?

Do you expect me to be concerned with your coat's wellbeing? You are much larger than me.

Minoth cat grunted.

I don't see how it makes much of a difference, seeing as...

His foot shot out to jostle Addam dog, who'd started snoring. Whuh?! Is everyone alright? Is anything the matter?

Minoth cat grunted again.

Is that communication, by your definition?

I never agreed to this.

You never disagreed, either. Flora kitty nosed at her paws, crossed, with her nose, smoothing out the surrounding fur that was dotted with her characteristic not-freckles. Will you just be peaceable about it?

As if by feline coincidence, just as Minoth cat attempted to stretch, and suss out his true feelings on the matter, Addam dog did the same, resulting in a joint manoeuvre of lazy, satisfied returns to the rug. When the former made to move again, the latter chose instead to snuggle closer.

He doesn't talk much, does he?

Believe me, you'll have plenty to complain about in that regard later on. Just...be patient. Since I'm so very sure that you can't wait.

Seems to me this is a pretty bit of extortion.

By his very tone, Flora kitty could catch out Minoth cat's wry smile, and she preened at the very sound of it. Verily, and all.

Whatever it is, I don't suppose it holds very much real weight, anyway. Now, I'm tired.

Busy day?

Not at all. Problem?
