"It's like..." the phrase fills itself in from endpoint unknown, "I got in a car accident. And it wasn't my fault, everybody you told would say it wasn't my fault, but for days you insisted on making me feel like a liar, only to give me a little high five when the incident report closes up. Like, wouldn't you want me to think I was in the right? At least until the dust settles?"
