Rhyme

i've got to be what i'm trying to be. i've got to see what it's like to be me.

doing something worthwhile
it isn't only onward, upward, smile
i'm digging my heels, i'm setting me in
i've got a grand plan, before i begin

and i'm busy; busy bee
buzzing steady; flying free
not ready just yet, but soon to be going
all getting all set - the juices are flowing

in fact, i've got to learn how to eat.
how to keep my head tidy, my body so neat.

each day's exercise is a ritual patience
delivering future from this strange nascence
and i won't stand for lazy complacence
i'll be right there with you, not just when the race ends

the race ends. my face ends.
keep on looking - looking up!

up. get up. onward, and up.

i've got to be what i'm trying to be
i've got to see what it's like to be me

and if i get tired, i think that's okay
maybe i just like me better that way
