Maybe universal time really was so enormous in relation to the time they had spent apart, but in its entirety it pales next to the time spent waiting for KOS-MOS to choose a bunch of bananas.

They have to pick them exactly correctly, you see; exactly four, not three or five, for Shion to eat throughout the week, and exactly on the pound, because you can't divide nineteen cents per neatly.

"KOS-MOS, please, it doesn't matter! Those are just fine - promise!"

KOS-MOS turns, quizzical.

"I am doing it for you, Shion. I do not think it could possibly matter more."
