Day 11 - Siblings

"You're sure you don't want that old attachment, Egil? Mother made it for you with such care."

Egil fixed his sister with a pinched look. He wasn't at all embarrassed by their current occupation, performing maintenance work on each other and taking inventory of which attachments were actually valued, for each, anymore, but did Vanea have to be so acutely impractical about it?

"I'm not disposing of it. Simply detaching." He paused. "What, did you want it?"

Anything Oydis had made would have a good chance of fitting each of them the same - though, there was, as always, the issue of Egil's monstrous height to contend with.

But, Vanea only laughed. "Wouldn't be sanitary! Besides, there are spare attachments for both of us in all three types somewhere around here."

"Quite a gift, from Lady Meyneth. The Giants do not have it this easy."

What if such a part was more than just vaguely unuseful, and in fact blatantly troubling? One couldn't simply swap it out. The same went for chest pieces, such as Vanea had, only Egil hadn't ever any particular yen to experiment with those.

"There must be a balance, surely?" Egil continued musing. "What they have that we do not?" At an innate level, composing the design of Bionis species; Egil knew very well what they had that the Machina did not, and he did not envy them their vengeful god, instead wishing once again that Meyneth's generosity and grace could be theirs.

Vanea, too, had pondered this question, but Egil never knew to what depth. "They eat food, I suppose," was her offering. "That's something our bodies don't allow for."

"One day, I hope...we will all eat together. From the same table."

"That's fine, Egil. Now, before you drop them, help me with my screws?"
