Day 26 - Hugs
Could an artifically intelligent combat android feel reassurance? Could an artificially intelligent combat android even ever need reassurance?
When would such a thing be necessary? Would such a thing not only be of potential to detriment?
And yet, Shion often thought about programming this feature into KOS-MOS - after discussion with the android, of course, even if only as a perfunctory reassurance (ha) to Shion that she hadn't acted unilaterally. KOS-MOS would allow her to act unilaterally, but KOS-MOS herself could also act as a sounding board.
Was that even sound logic? Shion hoped so. The illusion of having discussed the issue with KOS-MOS, according to KOS-MOS's own wants and needs, would have to serve as the real thing.
All much more complicated than the already complicated question of reassurance.
KOS-MOS provided reassurance and reassurances to Shion constantly. She ruled out all illogical thought processes and did as little as possible to accomodate them, in Shion. Still, she always seemed so understanding. That, even as her engineer, was something Shion feared she'd never understand.
If KOS-MOS never faltered, never doubted, never wavered, could any support Shion gave to her ever truly be useful? Could it be wanted?
KOS-MOS's cold body reacted minimally to most all human touch. Cybernetic sensors in her synthetic skin would provide a slight warming at contact points, but that was all.
Shion had to admit that she longed to hold KOS-MOS, and to be held in return. To cause more than a basic perfunctory effect in her companion. To know that the answers she sought were, somehow, more than simply words spoken.
Uttered reassurances.
Pressure against a chest, a core.
Shion wanted, needed, to be strong. So strong that she could inspire, instead of just quivering beholden to an omnicapable guide.
She needed to hug KOS-MOS close.
