Day 05 - Fancy Outfits
Mio had always preferred her specific iteration of the Agnian standard uniform kits, with its cropped pants and brusque faulds that combined protection with a bit of aerodynamics (and some style, too, as much as you could get with military uniforms). Sure, you had to be very precise about how you positioned your legs beneath your waist in order to take advantage of the shape, and you also had to not be a first-termer, so you could actually get armour pieces adjusted to your size, but hey, she wasn't complaining. So long as she got to be the fastest!
So...even though the Off-Seer uniforms - the girls' version in particular - had something of the same silhouette, Mio wasn't at all impressed with the billowing bout of fluttering cloth and its flimsiness. They were soldiers, what use had they for looking dainty?!
All she could do was sit around and practice. Why? She was already good at being a soldier! They just had to take that away from her, didn't they?
But Miyabi, hopelessly clumsy in the armoured get-up, transformed into a vision of aspiration for Mio, when she picked up that flute. It took time - oh, so much precious time -, but Mio began to treasure their new outfits, just a bit, for how they allowed (maybe, forced) her to slow down. It didn't matter how much stronger one player was than the other, nor whether the twelfth bar, or the twentieth, wended its way out slightly wrong on either part. It mattered that Miyabi loved what they were doing.
Each fold of the bow, each bow in sage folds...
Theirs was a garb of tender moments, of sweetest sorrow, of dressing up for solemnity and silence, and pouring their beauty back into the world.
One gilded note at a time.
